Why are lights used in earthworm production?

What will be an ideal response?

In earthworm production, lights prevent the worms from crawling out of their beds. Worms are very sensitive to light and generally come out only at night. As long as the worms see the light when they come to the top of the bedding, they will stay near the bottom.
