If a person experiences blood loss due to trauma and is in danger of going into shock, the standard treatment is to supply the person with intravenous saline solution. What support does this provide? Why is this treatment less effective than supplying whole blood?

What will be an ideal response?

Saline will replace fluid volume and maintain blood pressure. It will not supply red blood cells to carry oxygen or platelets and plasma proteins to promote clotting.
