What is resource dependency theory, and how does it help explain modern public relations?
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: Resource dependency theory helps explain why organizations build relationships with publics. Basically, it maintains that if organizations want to achieve their values-driven goals, they usually must acquire resources held by other publics. In essence, the organization depends on resources it does not control. To acquire those resources, the organization builds relationships with the publics that hold the resources. Recent studies in public relations show that two-way symmetry is the most effective model for securing resources held by others
