a. press upward with your right hand under his thigh as he raises his leg.
b. gently jab his abdomen with a pin.

d. flex his leg at the hip and knee with your right hand under his lower leg.

C
When the acute abdominal pain of appendicitis is suspected, the iliopsoas muscle test should be performed. With the patient supine, place your hand over the right thigh and push downward as the patient raises the leg, flexing at the hip. Normally, the patient should experience no pain. When the iliopsoas muscle in the groin is inflamed (which occurs with an inflamed or perforated appendix), pain is felt in the RLQ. Gently jabbing the abdomen with a pin is a step in the cutaneous hypersensitivity test.
