combination gas valve (CGV): has the ability to control the flow of gas to both the pilot and the main gas line, which feeds gas to the burners; has a manual control and a built-in regulator that helps ensure that the pressure in the gas line to the furnace is within the desired range

two-stage gas valve: allows the system to operate at two different capacities; is found on two-stage gas furnaces; has two solenoid valves; when  system calls for first stage heat, first solenoid is energized and system operates at 50% of total capacity; when system calls for full capacity, second solenoid is energized, allowing full gas flow through the valve
