The trading system pattern assumes that there is no central authority involved. However, in areas such as equity trading, there are regulatory rules that must be followed by trading systems. Suggest how this pattern might be modified to allow a regulator to check that these rules have been followed. This should not involve all trades going through a central node.
What will be an ideal response?
The obvious way to do this is through a central compliance checking system but
this would introduce a bottleneck into the system as all trades would have to pass
through this. An alternative way of doing this would be to provide a compliance
checking system as a container, with compliance checking provided as an
infrastructure service. The individual trading systems could then be deployed in the
compliance container and checks made by each system before the trade was
processed.
This approach has the advantage that it would allow different systems
(perhaps in different countries) to follow different regulatory rules.
