What are urban legends and what purpose do they serve? Provide a brief example of one urban legend
What will be an ideal response?
Urban legends are stories with an ironic twist that sound realistic but are actually false. Urban legends are a type of modern morality story that teach moral lessons about life. For example, one urban legend suggests a woman smells something bad, even after showering. When she finally sees a doctor he informs her she has cooked her inner organs and intestines due to excessive tanning sessions and they are rotting. Biologically not possible, but the message is clear, "don't over do the tanning booth!"
