List and explain the different components of a network
What will be an ideal response?
A network consists of three separate components-servers, clients, and peers.
• A server is any computer on the network that makes access to files, printing, communications, and other services available to users of the network. Servers only provide services.
• A client is any computer, such as a user's PC or laptop, on the network, or any software application, such as Microsoft's Outlook e-mail client, that uses the services provided by the server. Clients only request services. A client usually has only one user, whereas many different users share the server.
• A peer is any computer that may both request and provide services.
