Explain the difference between looseness and tightness in an organization and give specific examples of a loose or tightly organization.

What will be an ideal response?

Large, complex organizations are inherently tightly coupled systems, an example would be the United States Army. Loosely coupled systems are smaller, more nimble organizations of your units and less interdependent. Hierarchy is important in a tight Lee coupled system and flat hierarchy is a characteristic of a loosely coupled system. The Google Corporation is on the loosely coupled side of the spectrum of systems. But a dialectical interpretation may be more useful and realistic. In some respects, organizations and systems within can be both loose and tight. What functions or components of owners or organization should be centralized and what functions should be decentralized need to be determined, in order to be an organization that is both loose and tight.
