How would you determine whether to use footnotes or endnotes in a paper?
What will be an ideal response?
It is a matter of preference, although it is somewhat driven by the number of citations included in a paper and the type of document. Legal documents tend to require footnotes. If you have a large number of citations, multiple footnotes might unnecessarily clutter the bottom of the pages, although they do provide immediate clarification of a citation. With a great many citations, endnotes might reduce clutter by collecting all citations more neatly at the end of the paper.
