What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Those who wish to make English an official language argue that there 58 other nations and 28 states in the United States that have made English the official language through legislation. These same people argue that is English is a symbol of national unity and that knowledge of English is essential for success in the United States. These same people argue at the expense of producing multilingual documents. Those opposed to legislation along these lines indicate it is superfluous as English is already the primary language. Further they argue that the federal government should not interfere with individual's language rights. They advocate that English-only policies are an attack on immigrants.
