What are the some of the big tasks for a producer when putting together a Broadway musical?

What will be an ideal response?

The producer needs a vision of what the final result will be. Raising money is the responsibility of the
producer, and the producer is responsible to report periodically on finances to any investors. The
producer prepares a budget and negotiates numerous contracts. If a musical is based on a preexisting
property such as a novel, the producer obtains stage rights. If the musical is based on an original play,
the producer acquires the play. The producer hires the lyricist, composer, director, and possibly some
other top creative workers. Renting a theater and reaching agreements with labor unions are the
responsibility of the producer. The producer is responsible for making the payroll for workers. The
producer is responsible for hiring personnel to promote the musical to spur ticket sales.
