Describe the structure and activities of Chechen crime groups
What will be an ideal response?
Chechens are a Muslim ethnic-based group from he central Asian region of the Caucasus Mountains due north of the Georgian Republic. They are historically hostile to Moscow and are legendary warriors. Governed by the concept of adat (like Sicilian omertá), they demand vengeance to uphold family honor. Chechen crime operates in many parts of FSU, including Moscow. They are more structured than most: leader, senior advisors, soldiers, and associated members, adhering to the strict hierarchical arrangement of their clan. They value their reputation for violence. Members are found throughout Eastern and Western Europe and members have been sent to New York to set up operations. In the US, they perform contract crimes--murder, extortion, and fraud, then leave. Chechens are the only group that does not respect the territoriality of the vory.
