What will be an ideal response?

The five essential elements of an interview are: interaction, process, party, purpose, and questions. (1) An interview is interactional because there is a sharing or process of exchange regarding a variety of topics. There must be conversation involved otherwise an interview isn’t taking place. Interviewers rely on interactions to learn more about an interviewee. (2) An interview is also a process—an interaction where new information emerges while attitudes and reactions change. This dynamic process helps interviewers and interviewees learn more about each other beyond first impressions. (3) Another essential element of interviews is the party, referring to who is involved during the process. Interviews may involve more than two people, but they can never involve more than two parties. (4) The next essential element of interviews is purpose—a desired outcome of the interview. The purpose for the interview is what sets it apart from other conversations and communication interactions we have on a daily basis. (5) Finally, questions are extremely important in interviews because they involve communication between two parties. Questions also help the interviewer determine if an interviewee is a good fit for a job.
