What are the advantages and disadvantages of a maintenance-free battery?

What will be an ideal response?

Advantages of the maintenance-free battery are:
1. The battery does not require water to be added if the charging system is operating properly.
2. It can be stored for long periods of time without experiencing self-discharge (three times as long as lead-antimony). Eighteen months on the shelf without self-discharge is common.
3. It normally does not require an activation or boost charge when new.

Disadvantages of the maintenance-free battery are:
1. It can be damaged with repeated deep discharges, reducing its plate material significantly.
2. Because there are no cell caps, hydrometer testing of the battery's state of charge is not possible
3. It has a lower reserve capacity.
4. Its lead-calcium plate grid material is very brittle and breaks easily.
