1. Locate the lower portion of sternum:
a. Place the index and middle finger at the base of the person’s rib
b. Slide the fingers up the rib cage to the area where ribs meet the sternum
c. Rest the middle finger at this area with the index finger placed beside it
d. Place the other hand directly beside the index finger on the sternum
e. First hand is then removed and placed on top of the hand resting on the sternum
2. Interlock fingers
3. Lock elbows and position over the hand
4. Compress the chest 2.0 inches
5. Release the sternum, but keep the hands on the chest

6. Compressions should be smooth and rhythmic, with equal time spent on compression and release
7. Maintain a ratio of 100 compressions in 60 seconds
8. After 30th compression, administers two full, slow breaths
9. Continue chest compressions
10. Use AED as soon as it is available
11. Resume CPR after each shock or defibrillation.
12. If there is a pulse and breathing, monitor the patient; if there is no pulse, continue CPR
