The U.S. economy and way of life has been built around an abundant and cheap supply of oil.  What is the concern with this assumption?

What will be an ideal response?

The amount of conventional oil left in the world is unknown due to a complex set of factors.  Some analysts think we will run out of oil in the near future. Other experts believe we can continue to find oil through more exploration, but many oil geologists doubt that this will happen.  The problem is that the economies of other countries, specifically China, are growing and their desire to consume oil is rapidly increasing.  Basing the U.S. economy on such a volatile energy supply is risky in the long run.
