The Early Paleozoic continents were different from the present-day continents. Many of the
tectonic features that we recognize today were the result of later tectonic events. The
continents in the Early Paleozoic were in different latitudes than present-day continents
resulting in different climate conditions. Early Paleozoic paleography consisted of six major
continents dispersed around the world at low latitudes. Water circulated freely among the
ocean basics, and the polar regions were mostly ice-free. Epeiric seas covered many of the
continents.
