Hub: A small, simple device for joining multiple computers.A hub typically sends a message received over all available ports except the port that sent the message.
Switch: A device for connecting computers on the same network.A switch has some routing capacity and will examine data packets for physical addressing and route the traffic appropriately.These are typically Layer 2 devices.
Router: A router is a device used to interconnect different networks.A router has the ability to determine logical addressing and route traffic appropriately.This is a Layer 3 device.
