Describe the features of a clear point-and-touch signal
What will be an ideal response?
A clear point-and-touch signal involves the teacher pointing under the numeral without touching the board. The teacher ensures that the students vision is not blocked by any part of the teacher’s hand or body. After pointing under the numeral for 1 or 2 seconds, the teacher signals by moving his hand away from the board and then back toward it, touching under the numeral. The out-and-in motion is done crisply with the finger moving away from the board (about 6 inches) and then immediately back to the board. When the teacher’s finger touches below the numeral, the students respond in unison. The out-and-in motion should be done the same way every time so students know when to respond.
