Explain how logic models can be helpful in grant applications and why some agencies are now requiring them in proposals for funding.
What will be an ideal response?
Funding for social programs continues to be competitive and often scares. As a result, social worker agencies are becoming more reliant on public and private grants. One of the keys to a good grant proposal is clear presentation of a program using a logic model, and an effective plan to evaluate the program. The logic model helps program managers clearly present their programs to funders. All of the features of a logic model can be applied to a new program in the grant proposal process. The logic model can facilitate a critical review a program and provides a natural flow between the description and evaluation of the program. Logic models help to present often complex social programs with multiple outcomes to funders. The United Way and federal government now require logic models so that a clear picture of the program is presented in a format that they understand.
