Today, teachers type most work-related documents on a computer, send text messages on a cell phone, and send and receive e-mails each day. Explain why it is still important to teach handwriting. Include three or four characteristics of good handwriting
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: The purpose of writing has some bearing on how legible it should be. When writing for others, your handwriting needs to be more legible than when writing for yourself. Characteristics of legible handwriting include: letters written in the correct form, letters proportional to themselves in terms of size, letters spaced evenly apart within words and words space one letter apart from each other, and letters straight or slanted consistently, depending upon the handwriting form used.
