What will be an ideal response?
Metronidazole is a broad-spectrum antibiotic in the nitroimidazole class. It also has antiprotozoal
actions. Ciprofloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic, with broad-spectrum properties. These drugs are
used for acute cases of diverticulitis to help reduce the inflammation and improve tissue perfusion to
the bowel areas affected. Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic, and it works to relax the smooth muscles
of the GI tract and thus reduce GI motility. As a result, T.H. will experience fewer spasms.
