Name and briefly explain two young adolescent character traits as explained in the text

What will be an ideal response?

Responses will vary. There are many generalizations that can be made about typical character traits of young adolescents. Young adolescents often
• are concerned about fairness.
Telling a teacher "you're not fair" is a terrible rebuke. Middle grades students have definite ideas about what adults should be and should do in regard to treating students fairly. When adults disappoint them, students are not quick to forgive and forget.
• ask unanswerable questions.
Middle grades students want to know answers to major questions, such as the meaning of life and what their roles should be in society. They usually realize that adults don't have all these answers, but they at least want adults to treat their questions seriously.
• need support, but seldom ask for it.
To make wise decisions about moral issues, young adolescents need us to be positive role models to help them with issues of right and wrong.
• make poor decisions as a result of their strong need for peer acceptance.
During the middle grades years, students often value social approval over moral convictions. This may lead to decisions that have harmful, often life-changing consequences.
