How does directed patrol differ from specialized patrol? What are some examples of specialized patrol
What will be an ideal response?
Directed patrol sends police to areas and specific addresses as a result of crime analysis. For example, a housing project may be a hot spot for drug sales and domestic violence. Police units will then be directed to be in this area during certain hours. Specialized patrol is not patrol in the usual sense of riding around in a vehicle. It is often a stationary assignment directed to stakeout and conduct surveillance in order to proactively prevent crime. Some examples are the surveillance of a crack house or a stakeout of a liquor store in a high crime neighborhood.
