Facilitating learning through instructional techniques
The text considers facilitating learning by providing appropriate instructional techniques and discusses eight of them. After reviewing all eight and reflecting on their importance, identify four with which you are less familiar and tell why you believe they are less familiar. Then discuss when they are appropriate and provide an original example of each. Be sure your examples reflect your intended or possible major. Finally, identify one or more of the techniques and explain why it (they) would be of limited value in your major.
What will be an ideal response?
ANS: Scoring guide:
Key elements that should appear in an appropriate response:
* Full credit for the first part of the assignment requires that students identify four instructional techniques and explain why those techniques are less familiar to them.
* The second part of the assignment is satisfactorily met when the student (a) discusses when each of the four techniques is appropriate and (b) identifies a logical common example of its use in the student's intended major.
* The last part relies on each student's professional judgment. Maximum credit for completing the third part of the assignment depends on the student's reasoned and thorough explanation for considering one or more techniques of limited value in his or her intended major. Points can be added or deducted based on quality and quantity of response comments.
