Veracity, which means to tell the truth, is an important principle in health care ethics. Explain the harmful effects to the health care process when either the patient or practitioner lies

Health care provision requires honesty of both the patient and practitioner. If a patient lies to the provider, it will be difficult to make appropriate determinations in the patient's behalf. On the other hand, if the provider lies to the patient, it will affect the patient in exercising true autonomy because of lack of reliable information.
