Draw a single subject design with hypothetical data and indicate where one would focus in order to determine

whether a functional relationship exists.

What will be an ideal response?

Across all examples a functional relation should be illustrated through a change in the dependent variable as a
result of the independent variable.
In a Reversal Design: A change in behavior from the first baseline to the first intervention phase with a return to initial baseline conditions during the second baseline with a replicated change in behavior during the second intervention phase.
In a Changing Criterion Design: A systematic change in behavior from baseline to intervention with systematic changes during subphases of the intervention as is illustrated in the continually mastery of the interim criterion.
In a Multiple Baseline Design: A change in the dependent variable as a result of the implementation of the independent variable replicated across students, behaviors, or settings. The change in the second and/or third student, behavior, or setting does not occur until the independent variable is implemented.
