What are the basic tenets of expectancy value theory? What evidence supports this theory of attraction?

What will be an ideal response?

Expectancy value theory states that people evaluate potential partners based on
perceived attractiveness, compatibility, similarity, and whether the person has the
attributes and the potential to play roles we consider to be vital characteristics of an
ideal mate. Evidence comes from studies that show that adolescents are more likely to
become involved with partners who are like them physically and emotionally and who
hold the same values and attitudes.
