Elaborate on the relationship between audience centricity and attributions. How do attributions add value to a story for readers and strengthen the relationship between a journalist and his or her audience?

What will be an ideal response?

Attributions are an important part of news writing because they explain to readers where the information in a story comes from. This, in turn, allows readers to determine for themselves whether to give the information any credence. A news story without any attributions may cause readers to question the writer’s reporting (“how do YOU know that?”) or make them feel as if they are being given only one side of a story. A story that is attributed to several sources, on the other hand, reinforces the role of the journalist as a conduit for information and empowers readers to make rational, informed decisions about what to do with the information.
