Briefly explain the differences between a cost center support operation and a profit center operation.

What will be an ideal response?

A cost center operation has an expense budget, but no corresponding source of revenue (income).  A profit center operation has both an expense budget and an offsetting income stream.  Profit center support operations are somewhat easier to cost-justify than cost centers.
