Explain the process of how drugs exit the body and discuss the several means the drugs can be eliminated. Address what factors can influence this process
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: The process is a metabolic process called biotransformation. This is a chemical breakdown and the metabolites can be water-soluble, less water-soluble, or sometimes not broken down at all. Elimination can occur through urine, feces, exhaled breath, sweat, saliva, or breast milk. Factors that can influence biotransformation can include: the presences of other drugs in the body, the individual's age, the quantity of the drug, based on the drug's chemical properties, and based on the individual.
