Explain the process of evolution through natural selection.
What will be an ideal response?
When individuals within a population are born with unique traits and those traits are advantageous for survival, those in the population with the advantageous traits survive and reproduce better. The advantageous traits are inherited in the population's offspring. Over time, those with the advantageous traits become more common. If a population becomes distinctly different than the rest of the species population, this is speciation. This is process is responsible for the biodiversity of life.
