What are your chances of guessing correctly in the paired comparison test? In the triangle test? In the ranking test?

Two samples are presented in the paired comparison test, so the chance of guessing correctly is 1 in 2, or fifty percent. In the triangle test, three simultaneous samples are offered. An analyst can guess correctly 1 out of 3 guesses, or about thirty three percent of the time. A ranking test is more complex. Correct guesses depend on the number of samples presented. For example, if there are 3 samples, a panelist could guess correctly 1 out of 3 times for each of the 3 samples. So, 1/3 ? 1/3 ? 1/3 = 1/27.
