If you had a block area in your classroom, explain how you would decide when to become involved in the activities of the children and what your role would be.

What will be an ideal response?

I would decide whether to become involved by watching the children. If things seemed to be running smoothly and they ignored my presence, I would leave them alone. If I noticed inappropriate or confused action, or picked up cues that they wanted my attention and help, I would intervene. One way to interact would be to model appropriate block behavior. Another way would be to establish some basic rules for using blocks. I would also make sure all children are using the blocks and make sure to find ways to involve different groups, especially if students of certain genders, ages, or abilities seemed to be excluded.
