Do you think secure housing units (SHUs) are a good way to reduce gang activity in prison as well as the influence of gang leaders on free-world gang members? Why or why not?
What will be an ideal response?
Answers will vary but should demonstrate an understanding of the danger that gang leaders pose within the prison to other inmates and to correctional officers, and the control that these inmates have over free-world crime. Answers should also show an understanding that the use of SHUs to isolate these gang leaders has reduced but not eliminated their control over gang behavior both inside prison and in the free world.
