Identify and explain the two exceptions to the Miranda requirement.
What will be an ideal response?
There are two main exceptions to the Miranda requirement. First, the public safety exception allows officers to question a suspect without reading his Miranda warnings if they reasonably believe he has information that will help save a life or prevent serious injury. Next, when the suspect does not know they are speaking to a law enforcement officer, the officer does not have to provide Miranda warnings, unless the suspect previously invoked his Miranda rights. It should be noted that anytime someone is subject to a custodial interrogation, they must be given Miranda warnings.
