Describe the form and function of axons
What will be an ideal response?
Axons are long extensions of the neuron cell body that carry the nervous impulse away from the cyton. (Remember, AA stands for Axons Away, as well as Arteries Away.) Axons are typically single, and make contact with an adjacent dendrite, cell body (rarely), another axon, a muscle fiber, or a secreting cell. Motor axons are the longest cells in the human body; the cell body may be located in the spinal cord, and the end of the axon in your toe!
