There are two subjective qualities to consider when evaluating wool_ (1) character and (2) uniformity. Character, the eye-catching ability and handling quality of fleece, is important because it lends appeal to fleece, but it can be difficult to distinguish because it is highly subjective and varies greatly. Color, crimp, and condition all factor into character. The second subjective quality to consider during wool assessment is uniformity, the variation in grade and length of fleece. Fleece with the greatest uniformity, or the least amount of variation, is most desirable_
