Describe the social-psychological model and its utility in explaining intimate partner violence
What will be an ideal response?
The social-psychological model argues that the feminist theory and the psychological approach both fall short of providing tools for intervention. It recognizes the sociopolitical context of homophobia and internalized homophobia which create the environment that supports relationship abuse. Negative feelings such as low self-esteem are acted out in the form of partner abuse. Personal characteristics may also influence the choice to use abuse in relationships.
