Describe how the Concept Attainment Model might be used for pre- and post-assessment purposes
What will be an ideal response?
The Concept Attainment Model is a useful tool to introduce or conclude a unit. In introducing a unit, this model provides information about students' prior knowledge, aptitude, and the growth of their knowledge and skills over time. This information can be used to improve instruction. Post-assessment data can help a teacher ascertain the effectiveness of a learning sequence, and use this information for future instructional decisions (e.g., use of flexible grouping, tiered instruction, and multiple levels of questions). In addition, post-assessment use of the Concept Attainment Model can involve more complex examples and nonexamples, as well as demonstration of applying the concept in novel situations.
