What are some ethical guidelines for field research that must be considered when choosing to conduct field research?

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: The exact nature of one’s role within the setting: Are you going to be more of a participant or an observer? Is your research role going to be completely overt or might it have a covert? Gaining permission for conducting the study from some gatekeeper or group leader and letting members know you are there in the setting as a researcher is an ethical consideration to address. Moreover, while long-standing members of the group are likely aware of your role and intentions, what about newer members? How will you inform them of your role in ways that do not seem awkward or off-putting? Providing interview participants with a written confidentiality statement is one way of informing them about your study in writing. Make sure they are aware that their participation is voluntary and they can withdraw from the study at any time. Use pseudonyms when reporting data to ensure confidentiality and anonymity.
