Some new options in staffing patterns for nursing units include which of the following? Select all that apply

a. 8-hour shifts c. weekend programs

B, C
In order to attract and retain nursing staff, a number of innovative types of staffing patterns have been developed. Some of these include 12-hour shifts and weekend programs. For example, a nurse could work three 12-hour shifts/week and still be considered an FTE, or work two 12-hour shifts on weekends and be paid at a higher rate and retain status as an FTE. Some of the more traditional staffing patterns are 8-hour shifts and week day shifts.
