The best responses should include a discussion of eating lower on the food chain. As energy flows through an ecosystem, a global average of 90% of the energy in food is lost at each trophic level. Therefore, more people can be fed if they eat vegetation (producers), instead of feeding the plant material to animals and then eating the animal. This does not mean everyone needs to become a vegetarian. It simply implies that we can feed more people on this planet if people feed lower on the food chain.
