Discuss various mechanisms by which flowers are pollinated, and the characteristics of flowers that can give you a clue as to its mechanism of pollination
What will be an ideal response?
Plants with very small or obscure flowers are often wind pollinated, particularly if they produce large quantities of pollen. Bright blue or yellow flowers attract bees, which arrive for the nectar but also get dusted with pollen, which they transfer to the next flower they visit. Some flowers have visible (to us) or ultraviolet (visible to the bee) stripes that direct the bee to the center, where the nectar is located. Flowers pollinated by birds and some moths are often bright red. Flowers pollinated by nocturnal animals such as bats and some moths are typically white.
