What functions usually come under the organizational heading of auxiliary services?
What will be an ideal response?
Auxiliary functions provide "behind the scenes" support for the police. They are: communications, records, computers, information technology, property retention and control, continuity of evidence, vehicle and building maintenance, detention and jail facilities, licensing, crime laboratory, fingerprints, DNA retention, cyber crime investigation unit, emergency and civil defense mobilization. Auxiliary, in this sense, means supported services in most cases but these services and units are vital to a well-managed department. Cyber crime is becoming more significant and may rival the detective bureau in some departments in the near future.
