Which "rules of the theatre" did this play challenge and how did those issues affect your understanding of the play?
What will be an ideal response?
The student could talk about the fundamental idea of appropriate audience
behavior being passive in today's society and the fact that this play begs the audience from
start to climactic finish to be active. The student could also discuss the idea of conventional
contemporary story telling being very inward and not including the audience actively and
how this play breaks from that in a multitude of ways. The student could also discuss the
merging types of theatre within this play.
