What was the downside to RS232?
What will be an ideal response?
The down side is the need for more controllers and the specific hardware to
make this happen. In addition, RS232 was a standard, not a set law or rule. Some
companies liked to switch the function of the pins, creating a proprietary system
where you would have to user their cables and set it up their way in order to get
proper communication.
