Describe the public health roles of the CDC and the WHO. What are the roles of the FDA and the EPA?

What will be an ideal response?

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is "the lead federal agency (in the United states) for protecting the health and safety of the public. The primary responsibility for health risk management and prevention resides with the CDC and the state public health agencies. These agencies, for example, may require public-health measures such as immunizations and quarantines, and they are responsible for monitoring certain diseases and environmental hazards and for controlling epidemics. They also gather data and provide information on health issues to state and local health care providers."
WHO is the equivalent of the CDC at the international level. It will provide information and assistance to nations around the world in the area of immunization and monitoring diseases and epidemics. WHO is part of the United Nations and "is staffed by health professionals and other experts and is governed by the UN member states through the World Health Assembly."
The FDA is involved with the protection of our food supply and the EPA is responsible for the regulation of pollution.
