Design an advertising brochure for Dog DNA testing, entitled “Who Is Your Dog?” The brochure should target the general public in terms of information and include a basic description of how the test is done. Companies do this for humans and animals, so searching the Internet will provide information to help you design this brochure.

What will be an ideal response?

The information that needs to be incorporated in this brochure is as follows: (1) how
the test is done, which is mostly going to start with a cheek swab from the dog; (2) an
explanation of the genetics that is the basis for this test so the public can understand; and
(3) how many breeds can be determined.
Suggestions for the Brochure: The tri-fold format is best for the brochure. For example,
on the front page, a picture of a mutt in the middle surrounded by smaller pictures of
four purebred dogs would be a good graphic. The students can design their own picture
remembering that the art should convey what the company does for
the public. Have the students pick their own name for the company, its
address, etc. The inside of the brochure should have the information that
makes the “genetics” of the test easy for the public to understand. Have
the students read each other’s critique. The students will determine a
price for this service, and it should be realistic. The back of the brochure
should contain contact information.
